Product information "imi-rust Mat"

MRG 1003 / Decor 329. Flexible bio-PU mat with rust coating. Real metal particles. Versatile in use.

That‘s a real WOW effect, isn't it? With this flexible Bio-PU mat, you can use a grid design without having to resort to real, heavy and inflexible metal plates. This mat can even be used on columns.

By using real rusted iron, this design surface looks absolutely authentic. However, this coating is based on mineral-colored materials – ecologically harmless and recyclable. The surface is also magnetic.

Due to the flexibility of the backing mat, you can use this product in furniture construction, as wall panelling, on ceilings or stairs, in exhibition booth construction or shop fitting. We have also seen these mats in expedition vehicles and campers – there are virtually no limits to the ideas. Especially when contrasted with other surfaces, the result is truly extraordinary combinations.

Sounds good, but now you want to get some important technical information? Then take a look at this product page under "technical details".

Technical details

Structure and surface

The imi-rust mat consists of a 3 mm thick bio-polyurethane mat, coated on one side with a mineral design surface in a rust look with real metal particles. The surface behaves like corten steel. The mat retains its shape, even at fluctuating temperatures.

The back of the mat is raw.

We recommend slightly breaking (deburring) the edges on the decorative side with sandpaper before processing: grain size approx. 150.

The rust coating of the mats is slightly magnetic and sealed with a protective lacquer. This prevents discolouration and makes the mat robust and durable. However, this product is of course also subject to normal ageing processes.

Classification

This mat is classified in accordance with EN 1677:2016 (resilient floor coverings).

It is also B1 fire protection certified.

Sustainability advantage

The backing mat consists of bio-polyurethane, which is largely made from renewable raw materials such as rapeseed or castor oil and naturally occurring mineral components such as chalk. The product is free from plasticisers, PVC, chlorine and solvents – in other words, it is low in harmful substances and certified with the Blue Angel.

You can therefore dispose of leftovers or old mat parts with household waste without any problems. Both, the coating and the backing board material are ecologically safe.

Heavy-duty use

The mat is also suitable for use in areas subject to heavy traffic. To maintain the high quality, an additional special sealant is required, which we are happy to recommend.

Cleaning and care

This imi mat is very easy to clean. Loose dirt is best removed by sweeping, vacuuming or wiping with a damp cloth. Heavier soiling can be removed by adding a mild neutral detergent to the cleaning water.

Please remove staining or aggressive substances immediately. If you want to use stain cleaners or other harsher cleaning agents, please test on an inconspicuous area or on an unglued sample to see whether the mineral coating can withstand them.

Important infos!

This imi mat can be processed with a cutter knife. You do not need any special machines or equipment for this.

A system or wet adhesive is required to lay the mats. We have compiled some recommendations for you in our processing data sheet.

If you decide to lay the mat on the floor and later place chairs, tables or furniture on it, this is generally not a problem. It is only important to protect the mat with suitable protective glides or underlays under the furniture. High point loads with a small contact surface (narrow furniture feet or even the familiar high-heeled shoes) can otherwise lead to indentations or damage in this coating.

We have compiled some tips for you on laying the mat on walls and floors. You should definitely read these before you start. They will help you to work as smoothly as possible. (Link to the processing data sheet?)

If you are storing the mats, please make sure that you keep them dry and protect them from frost.

And one more tip:

The main component of the mineral imi coatings is organic. Each mat is unique. This means that color differences between different batches cannot be completely ruled out, even though we take great care to avoid them. Differences of this kind, as well as air inclusions, are natural and are no reason for complaint.
