Sustainable forestry in Indonesia: Where does the timber for our Queenply come from? We’ll show you on YouTube!

Our Queenply is made from a particularly light type of wood: Albasia falcata. This species of tree is characterised by its ability to grow extremely quickly. The wood is extremely light, yet strong and robust. That is why it is used for our Queenply lightweight panels.

Where does the timber for Queenply lightweight panels and multiplex panels come from?

The wood for our support panels grows in the forests of Indonesia. It is sourced from smallholders. And it is important to us that:

🌱 Entire areas are never cleared for the wood used in our support panels.

🌱 There are no monocultures where our wood is harvested.

 🌱 No chemicals are used.

🌱 The natural environment surrounding the trees is preserved

We source our timber from smallholders who clear trees ready for harvesting from the forests whilst leaving everything else standing. They clear the trees by hand to protect the surrounding natural environment. No plantations, no plantation owners, no large machines. And the smallholders are able to earn a living from the sales.

💯 This way, everyone benefits: smallholders, nature, us and, of course, everyone who uses Queenply to make their own furniture.

We at PLATTENLADEN have now visited Indonesia several times and have seen for ourselves what the place is like. Join Sven and some of our professional partners on this trip and watch the videos on our YouTube channel:
